I was born in 1947 and have studied and played the accordion for 50 years now. Through the Internet, I would like to honour all those who have helped build and develop the future of the accordion. The accordion had its breakthrough in the late 19th century. Even though the accordion is a young instrument, it has musicians all over the world.
As the interest for accordions gradually increases, I would like to thank the older, the new, and the future generations for their contributions to the instrument. Younger generations use the Internet like the older generation read newspapers. The Internet is no doubt the future in terms of communication. This is the reason for www.frosinisociety.org to be "online" today.
Now we have an intermission between paper and the Internet. Our site will show the development of accordion music throughout the 19th century. Through pictures, music and press cuttings from around the world, our database will inform future generations of the origin and the history of the accordion.
On May the first 2001, www.frosinisociety.org was born. Most of the work in presenting the accordion through this site is done by Gunnar Ohlander from IOWA - USA. This job has taken thousands of hours. Simultaneously with this work, we are updating our information on today's music.
Seeing that the accordion is a worldwide instrument, we realise that for the time being, we do not have the capacity to translate this site to all the desired languages. Music-publishers around the world are now trying to gain copyright to the music for the past 71 years and up to today. We, on the other hand, wish to give accordionists worldwide a meeting place where music can flow across borders, and that the copyrights stay with the composer. From may 2003 and onwards, you will be able to reach thousands of like-minded people all over the world through this site!
Cultural differences within the accordion music will enrich the site, and contribute to greater understanding and learning amongst accordionists. Through "Tellus" we can all join to develop tomorrow's music. This site is constantly growing and developing through the contributions of each member. We now present the site in two languages.
